Locations
The location of annual health check-ups changes every year in Iwate. Iwate Tohoku Medical Megabank staff will be at the following locations to conduct research: Kuji, Hirono, Noda, Fudai, Ofunato, Sumita, and Yahaba.
What to do
You will receive an annual health check-up slip with a letter from Iwate Tohoku Medical Megabank.
At the site volunteers will:
Undergo an annual health check-up |
Receive an explanation of the Project | |
Provide informed consent for participation in the Project |

Provide blood and urine samples |
Be given three survey forms to fill out at home which should be returned by mailed. Survey forms include:

Notification of results: Various information is revealed by these health surveys. For example, participants will be notified of:

Follow-up #1
Survey (~15 min) 6 months from the time of the

Follow-up #2
Survey (~15 min) 1.5 years from the time of the primary survey. |
Follow-up #3
Survey (~15 min) 2.5 years from the time of the primary survey. |
Follow-up #4
Survey (~15 min) 3.5 years from the time of the primary survey. |
Follow-up #5
Survey (~15 min) 4.5 years from the time of the primary survey. |
Secondary survey
A secondary survey will be administered 5 years from the time of the primary survey.
Expenses
- Medical examinations that Iwate Tohoku Medical Megabank is responsible for will be at no expense to participants.
- Compensation for taking part in this study will be made in the form of a 1,000 yen gift certificate.
Taking part in this study is voluntary. You may choose to withdraw your consent or leave the study at any time without penalty. |
